Hello, I’m Elizabeth Peters, and I help individual adults who are struggling with anxiety, panic, trauma, abuse recovery, codependency, boundaries, family estrangement, and religious trauma.
Prior to becoming a therapist, I spent years working with domestic violence survivors who were grappling with symptoms like panic attacks, flashbacks, triggers, and nightmares while they navigated all the fallout sometimes associated with abuse recovery, including religious trauma, parenting struggles, and family estrangement. The healing stage of that work was my favorite part, so I eventually became a therapist in order to do the healing part, fulltime! I love using somatic tools and EMDR to help clients process both cognitive and physical trauma symptoms, and it’s an incredible privilege to be present while people make breakthroughs in the very places they used to be stuck.
Fun Facts
In my free time, I love reading books on the porch – it’s not uncommon for my library card to be maxed out on interlibrary loans of obscure titles. When I road trip, it’s usually with a bag full of books (being way too optimistic about how much time I’ll have to read) and it’s usually to go look at some kind of rock formation! You’ll spot a few of the rocks I’ve picked up over the years amongst the stacks of books in my office – interesting rocks and books are two things I just can’t get enough of!
